Ingredients for Chilli Paneer

  • 1/2 kg Paneer
  • Chopped Veggies- Onions, capsicum, carrots, tomatoes, small pieces of chopped ginger.
  • Garlic paste
  • Sesame oil
  • 2 to 3 small tablespoons of white til 
  • Kashmiri chili powder or red chilis powder
  • Salt as per required
  • Kaali Mirch powder or black pepper powder in English
  • Chilli flakes for a good spicy taste.
  • 1/2 tablespoon Italian Seasoning 
  • Vinegar/ Lemon juice
  • Soya sauce
  • Cornflour batter

Method of Making The Perfect Chilli Paneer Recipe

For making the Paneer and the Cornflour batter

  • Take the 1/2 kg paneer. Paneer would be best if it is homemade but in case it is bought from the dairy make sure you soften it by keeping them in warm water for some minutes. 
  • After that, fry the paneer in the pan mildly by adding salt and red chili powder to add the spicy taste. Make sure you do not deep fry it, else it will get hard and not as per what we need or desire to have.
  • For corn starch batter or corn flour as said in India, pour in 4 to 5 cups of water in cornstarch powder and keep it aside. Cornstarch is necessary if you want a gravy consistency. You can add rice flour or wheat flour if you don't have corn flour!

For making the Chilli Paneer Gravy

  • Heat the regular yok in high flame and add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Sesame oil works the best for a spicy paneer masala treat to your taste buds! If you don't like sesame oil, you can use the regular refined oil.
  • Now add the chopped onions and saute it. Those, who are vegans can skip this step.
  • Then turn by turn slowly add capsicum, carrot, small chopped ginger pieces and cook in high flame for few minutes.

  • Add salt now, as per your taste and preferences. Add kali mirch powder, red chili powder, or Kashmiri chili powder to add color and flavor.
  • Now add the prominent tomato sauce and chili flakes turn the stove to a low flame.
  • Now add the best of the exciting ingredients such as 1/2 tablespoon of Italian seasoning, 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar, 1/2 tablespoon soya sauce. Post adding these, cook in medium flame.
  • If you don't have vinegar, you can add the half slice lemon juice!
  • If you want your dish to be of gravy consistency, add the cornflour batter slowly to get the chili paneer gravy. If you want as an appetizer, skip this step and serve as it is.
